The sound of the last hour

A playlist to go with the box. Press play when you light the candle and let it run until you turn the lamp off.

Your night ritual

One hour, three steps, and a slower way into sleep. Each piece hands over to the next.

  1. Set the scene

Light the candle and let the room warm up while you put the day down. A book, a bath, or nothing at all.

  2. Warm water

Smooth a handful of oil over dry or damp skin, then step in. It turns milky under the water and rinses away clean, leaving skin soft with nothing to follow.

  3. Drift off

Two or three mists over your pillow five to ten minutes before you get in, and across the room if you want it fuller.

Why I made The Last Hour

I made this box because of the way winter evenings feel - darker, colder, asking for something comforting.

I started keeping the last hour before sleep for myself. A candle lit, a long warm shower, a book, then a few spritzes on my pillow. Nothing complicated. Just a quiet hour, and a scent my body now reads as the end of the day.

So I made the three pieces I actually use, in the order I actually use them, and gave them one scent so the hour holds together from the first flame to the moment the lamp goes off.

- Rita

A gift that gives someone an hour

It arrives gift-ready, so it can go straight into the post or into someone's hands. No wrapping required, nothing to assemble.

A birthday, a thank you, a new home, or someone who has been running on empty and could use an hour back. It works just as well kept for yourself.

Questions

Spray from about 30cm and let it dry before you lie down. Used that way we haven’t had a problem, but the mist does contain vanilla and benzoin, so we’d avoid soaking delicate or pale fabrics directly.

Yes. It goes on your skin rather than into the water — smooth it on before you get in. Do take care getting out, as the oils make surfaces slippery.

The oil is made with natural ingredients and no synthetic fragrance, but it does contain essential oils. If your skin is reactive, patch test first and check the full ingredient list on the product page.

Our labels list ingredients by their INCI names, the international names used for cosmetic ingredients. They look technical, but they are the same ingredients described above.

Shower and bath oil: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Wax, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Tocopherol.

Soy candle: Pure Soy Wax, with a Natural Cotton wick.

Pillow and room mist: Organic Grain Alcohol, Isopropylideneglycerol.

Essential oils, in all three: Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Cedrus Deodara (Cedarwood) Wood Oil, Boswellia Serrata (Frankincense) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit (Vanilla) Extract, Styrax Benzoin Gum (Benzoin) Extract.

These come naturally from the essential oils. If you have a known allergy to any of them, please check before use.

Candle and pillow mist: Linalyl Acetate, Linalool, α-Pinene, Limonene, 4-Carvomenthenol, 1-Octen-3-yl Acetate, Myrcene, β-Caryophyllene, β-Pinene.

Shower and bath oil: Linalyl Acetate, Linalool, Pinene, Limonene, Terpineol, Beta-Caryophyllene, Vanillin, Camphor, Geraniol, Geranyl Acetate, Citral, Alpha-Terpinene, Carvone, Benzyl Benzoate, Citronellol, Benzyl Cinnamate, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Isoeugenol.

Yes, and never tested on animals.

The first batch is 100 boxes. If they sell out we may make more, but the complimentary roller is limited to the first 50 orders.
